Possibilities....: The sensation of needing to cough when you breathe deeply could be due to bronchospasm or inflammation in your airways. It could also be due to atelectasis, a collapse of airways when you don't take deep breaths and then when you take a deep breath, these airways open and can create a cough. If your symptoms increase in frequency or intensity, see your doctor.
