Talk to your doctor: That pain could be caused by a number of things. However, at your age, the most likely reason could be intermittent compression of a branch of the sciatic nerve on that side. You should be examined first, and if your doctor feels that nerve compression could be there, an MRI could be helpful. If there is a disc herniation, and the pain is persistent and severe, an epidural injection could help.
