Yes: 25 mg Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is ok. Avoid Xanax in the future. It can be sedating, but highly addictive. Half life is 2-4 hrs so it's completely out of your system in 12 hrs. Rebound anxiety and insomnia can be worse than baseline leading to escalating dose. There are many more effective treatments for anxiety and insomnia
