A member asked:

How does birth control regulate irregular periods if you have pcos?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

By consistency.: Taking oral contraceptives means that you are getting a fixed, known dose of oestrogen and Progesterone month in and month out. Assuming the dosage and combination are right for you, this basically entrains your cycles to follow a set, predictable pattern. It isn't foolproof however, and may require some adjustment of the ocp before it works.
