A member asked:

What happens if a woman is over 35 and has irregular periods because of pcos. can she still take birth control to help regulate them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Patients with PCOS are encouraged to speak with their OBGYN physician about low dose oral bcp's as an alternative to not only irregular periods, but to the effects of high levels of estrogen which can lead to later endometrial abnormalities. If no contraindications exist for bcp's, they are a reasonable choice for women with PCOS.
