Why the pain?: Usually, when the problem is the gallbladder, removing the gallbladder removes the pain. There are other causes of upper abdominal pain. Some are related to the bile tract and some are not, but a new workup is in order. While the pain may be the same, the cause may be from the same area or it may be a new problem. Hopefully, further testing can sort it out.
