Strep endotoxins: Likely you have "strawberry tongue", a condition associated with strep infections. Certain strep bacteria secrete substances called endotoxins that can cause the type of pain in tongue you describe. As your strep is treated and the bacteria killed, more of the endotoxins can be released. Continue your antibiotics as prescribed, use Ibuprofen for pain, and call doc if not improving or tongue swells.

Sore tongue: Not unusual in the presence of strep throat. Report your symptoms to the Physician that diagnosed your bacterial infection. He/she will then have the option of continuing or adjusting the antibiotic regimen that he/she has prescribed.
