Depends on weight: If starting at a high weight (50 pounds overweight) it is possible. If you weigh 200 pounds but ideal weight is 150, then maintenance calories is about 2000 calories per day. If you eat 500 calories per day, that is a reduction of 1500 cal per day. It takes about 3500 cal reduction to lose a pound. So, in one week, reduce 7x1500 or about 3 1/2 pounds. If you exercise, you could also burn calories.

Yes but: Even if you totally abstain from eating (assuming that you consume 2500 cal/day), you can't lose that much real weight in a week . Yes you may lose even more than that, but most of the weight loss is from water loss and you will soon gain it back within days. Intense exercise may hasten the loss but not recommended when on a low-cal diet.
