Have a real eval: Self diagnosis and treatment often leads to treatment failure. You might luck out and get it right, but most throat infections are viral and need no abx, and residual upper airway swelling for both can last a week or two. Nasal decongestant sprays can provide brief help while otc oral decongestants can help over a longer term.
