Is neural forminal canal narrowing called myelopathy and if not what is it called?

Foraminal stenosis: Foraminal stenosis is another name for neuroforamen narrowing or constriction. It may or may not be the basis of symptoms. Myelopathy refers to dysfunction of the spinal cord.

No.: Narrowing can occur in 2 places. If it is off to the side where a nerve root exits the spine (the foramen), then it compresses a nerve and causes "radiculopathy". This presents as pain going down the arm. Myelopathy is central spinal cord compression with exam findings showing spinal cord dysfunction. It's an exam finding, more than an imaging finding, although bruising of the cord may be seen.
