Not really.: There are different causes of dementia and rarely are they genetic. Plus even if you have one of these rare genes, it does not mean you will become demented. A lot of cognitive trouble has to do with vascular risk factors of smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol, which aren't genetic. You can reduce your chance of dementia by getting regular mental and physical exercise.
