PERSPECTIVE: In order to assess any potential risk, you need to know etiology of dementia. Was it secondary to a toxic exposure such as carbon monoxide, or a traumatic head injury, or a series of strokes, or perhaps an episode of hypoxia, or even due to encephalitis? If true alzheimer's or frontal dementia, or lewy body dementias, the genetics vary markedly. Contact your local medical school and get info.
