A member asked:

Ketones in my urine &i'm 25 weeks pregnant. i have been vomiting/nausea. and doctor said i had a high level of ketones. is it harmful for me and baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Dehydration can lead to other problems in pregnancy, and it's always important to be well hydrated in pregnancy (dehydration is #1 cause for preterm contractions [not labor] in pregnancy). If you have a lot of ketones and can tolerate drinking then, by all means, drink as much as you can. If you're nauseated and can't tolerate, then IV fluids in labor ; delivery would be recommended. Be well!
