Unusual: It would be unusual for a serious bacterial infection to be accompanied by bradycardia. Rarely, in particularly severe cases of endocarditis, there can be invasion of the av node by a myocardial abscess with subsequent atrioventricular block and subsequent bradycardia. This is extremely unusual.
