Prior symptoms: An abscess at that location is lightly due to a pilonidal cyst. A history of previous drainage, or a prior abscess at that location increase the chances.

Assume it is: These arise from hair bearing skin usually in the location you describe. External rubbing can contribute to the process. Those working in situations that require sitting for long periods add to the risk.I would assume it is and have it looked at.
