Usually no efficacy: Usually over the counter cough medicines are not so effective, but if your cough is caused primarily by a post-nasal drip (nasal/sinus congestion), a decongestant can be effective. Try not to use a decongestant for more than 3 days, or it can rebound (cause worsening of congestion).
