A member asked:

Since glycerin suppository cause anal stimulation, could this cause bacteria to enter blood stream?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bacteremia: Transient bacteria in the blood occur regularly, with brushing of teeth, sex, straining at stool, and so on. It is entirely possible that use of suppositories may do this as well, but it is seldom clinically relevant. That is why we have an immune system which will almost always rapidly clear these organisms and eliminate potential for infection.
