A member asked:

I gave my 9 month old a liquid glycerin suppository like his doctor told me to but he spotted a little blood while trying to poop. what could it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anal fissure: The appearance of any bright red blood in poo is an indication of a scratch/fissure near the outlet. It is usually found laying on the outside of the poo. Dark red/purple would indicate it came from higher up. This finding is common in infants who have harder or bulkier poops. It self heals.
