For a few seconds?: After crying (which can induce hyperventilation) it can be normal to stop breathing for a few seconds; if the baby is continuing to move and respond, this is not apnea but a break in breathing.

Normal, ? reflux: While this could be normal periodic breathing of newborn (they cry or breath fast, then slow their breathing way down so it looks like they are not breathing), it could also be reflux. Reflux is where stomach contents come up into back of throat, and then baby appropriately holds breath so as not to inhale the stomach fluids. Talk to doc about "reflux precautions". If baby pink, relax and monitor.
