Odd question: The kidneys work to rid the body of waste solids by diluting them in various amounts of water. As long as you consume plenty of fluids, the urine will be dilute. If you sweat off or otherwise loose fluids and do not keep up with oral intake, the urine will be thick/cloudy. Some illnesses will result in cloudy urine. Blood tests are the primary way to gauge the kidney function beyond urine output.

Limited information: If you are concerned about "kidney function, " blood chemistry tests will provide you better information. Minor urine color change has a little significance.
