Cramp vs. twitch: A number of abnormal sensations can arise from muscles including cramping (usually painful), twitching (feels like vibration), and focal rippling like movements. When this occurs all over the body, it may also be what is called myoclonus, or brief, rapid jerking movements. These can occur at the onset of sleep.
