A member asked:

Just had a methacholine challenge pulmonary test and it came back negative..does this mean i had no inflammation of the lungs or airways?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Methacholine challenge is to see if you have asthma or if you respond to a challenge with a chemical that can cause bronchospasm in people with asthma. That is all it would say. There are other causes of inflammation unfortunately and it does not test them if there is no bronchospasm associated.
