A member asked:

How often can you actually get tactile hallucinations with psychosis?

Possible: Tactile hallucinations can occur with psychosis but are usually overshadowed by visual and auditory hallucinations. When alone i would look for other causes such as drugs (marijuana, ecstasy), seizures, nerve damage and other neurologic disorders.

Not uncommon: Tactile hallucinations are not talked about a lot, but are not rare. I once asked a group of 8 patients with schizophrenia if they had hallucinations of touch. All said yes. I asked why that was not in any of their charts. They all responded that no one had asked them before. Touch hallucinations can be very frightening, but respond to medication the same as hallucinations in other sensory modes.
