See a doctor: Venous insufficiency could be one reason, but i would tend to think all the toes would turn purplish. The temp of the skin would be important, is the foot cooler or warmer and what it is compared to the contralateral limb. Is this new onset? History of trauma? More info would help but you should get checked out simply because the findings are not normal.
