A member asked:

I have a l5 pars fracture. why would it pop on the right side while raising my left leg?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pars defect: The popping noise is a lumbar facet joint or the pars defect moving across opposing bones. Similar to cracking your knuckles, the joints of the neck and back can pop. In response to raising the left leg, the right sided joints provide counter pressure and support. A back brace can help reduce the popping and improve healing of the pars fracture. Avoid nicotine and tobacco products.
