Decub ulcers: Decub ulcers are a pressure phenomenon. Any part of the body that receives constant pressure can develop an ulcer. So mobility to relieve pressure is the key. That's obviously a challenge if someone had a cva. Frequent turning in bed and good skin care is critical. Good nutrition is also very important to keep the skin healthy and resilient.

Spinal cord injury: The general rule for decubitus ulcers (more accurately pressure sores) is "no pressure, no sore." if any of us stay in one position too long, we will get a pressure sore. We do not because we move and shift our weight, even when asleep. Those at risk for pressure sores are those who cannot do this: spinal cord injury patients or weak or debilitated patients who cannot move themselves.
