Have a doc look: It sounds like you have a middle ear infection. The pain was caused by the buildup of pressure. Pain gets better as pressure is relieved when eardrum ruptures. Untreated infection could lead to hearing loss. Best to have an ear exam and see if you need antibiotics or other treatment. Good news is that these usually heal well in a few weeks or months.
