A member asked:

Should we get prophylactic antibiotics after csection to prevent endo carditis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Although post-partum endocarditis has occurred, it is so infrequent and there is so little evidence to support efficacy of prophylaxis that this would not be a routine procedure. Depending upon the risk factors in a given patient, however, these may be felt to be greater than the risk of prophylaxis by a given physician. This is a judgement call by the experienced informed clinician.
