Rheumatic heart dis: Rheumatic ht. Usually involves abnormalities of the mitral and/or aortic valves. Sometimes these valves require replacement because of the damage from the rheumatic condition. Today people can live a long and fairly normal quality life if the problem is diagnosed and followed early before signficant heart damage.
