Although sleep is: Used as a method to cope with depression in many cultures, it is also often seen with atypical depression and seasonal affective disorder. I would encourage you to be seen for depression. Wellbutrin (bupropion) is often very effective. Light therapy can be helpful too.

Hypersomnia...: It can be tough! Great question. Often times medication needs to be used and carefully titrated to get you to a place for you feel optimally better. Recommend you work with a doctor who takes their time and is willing to try a number of meds. Most important sleep hygeine rec: find a way to make sure you get up at a set time every day and have a structured day of activities to keep busy.
