Pain control: Take the prescribed pain medications as soon as you can so it is digested before the local anesthetic has worn off. Then alternate prescribed medication with OTC painkillers.Pain or discomfort following surgery is expected to last 4-5 days. Take care.

Instructions: Your Dentist or Oral Surgeon should have given you written instructions and perhaps a prescription. Follow the instructions to the letter, and take the prescriptions as labeled.
