Shoulder separation: Most ac joint injuries are treated successfully without surgery. However, without an x-ray, it would be impossible to differentiate ac separation from distal clavicle fracture. I recommend evaluation with x-rays to be sure. Good luck!

Yes, if you want a--: Proper diagnosis made and treatment options discussed with you, and a paln of care be initiated. Some of these injuries do need surgery, while most can be treated nonoperatively. So see an orthopod. Good luck and happy holidays.

AC SEPARATION: Typically an AC JOINT separation can be treated conservatively when it is only a type 2 or 3. Treatment consists of therapy to regain motion after a short period in a sling. If pain persists or you have pain with activities then sometimes surgical intervention is warranted. Consult an Orthopaedic surgeon for a complete work up. Hope this information is helpful.
