is it necessary to go to the doctors if ac joint separation?

Shoulder separation: Most ac joint injuries are treated successfully without surgery. However, without an x-ray, it would be impossible to differentiate ac separation from distal clavicle fracture. I recommend evaluation with x-rays to be sure. Good luck!

Yes, if you want a--: Proper diagnosis made and treatment options discussed with you, and a paln of care be initiated. Some of these injuries do need surgery, while most can be treated nonoperatively.
So see an orthopod.
Good luck and happy holidays.

AC SEPARATION: Typically an AC JOINT separation can be treated conservatively when it is only a type 2 or 3. Treatment consists of therapy to regain motion after a short period in a sling. If pain persists or you have pain with activities then sometimes surgical intervention is warranted. Consult an Orthopaedic surgeon for a complete work up. Hope this information is helpful. Take care. Wilsonshoulder.com

Depends: Non-operative approach to this would be 3 months or so. An operative approach may be even longer. Most would take non-operative approach and slow return to sports. Long-term success is high with non-operative approach.

AC Separation: Ac separation is an injury to the ligaments that connect the collarbone to the scapula. Most heal uneventfully, but some do not. Athletes most likely to have difficulties are overhead throwers. Good luck!
