Anemic but not iron-deficient, what is a good treatment?

Anemia is a sign: Not a diagnosis. One can be iron deficient form bleeding (loss) or lack of sufficient iron intake. Other problems are b-12 or folate (folic acid) deficiency, which causes the red cell to be larger (macrocytic). And then the is destruction cells burst or are sequestered in the spleen. You may find answers from an internist, or a hematologist.

Anemia: This simply means that the number of red blood cells per volume of blood is low. It does not determine the cause. For that you need a full detailed evaluation by a physician. It can include anything from a deficiency of vitamins absorbed to increased breakdown of cells in your body. In any event it deserves a thorough assessment.
