Behavior and mood : Studies have documented changes in personality and depression starting 3-5 yrs prior to memory loss. The problem progresses to involve organizational skills, ability to do basic skills such as driving or balancing a checkbook, and need for increased help in basic activities. In older pts without good reasons for depression, alz disease may be starting.
