A member asked:

Can you tell me how could alcoholism effect a person's personality?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many ways: And they are as different as there are many people. People who develop addiction may have underlying psychiatric issues like depression or bipolar disorder, ptsd and others which have effects on personality. Continued drinking is often associated with anger, resentment, denial, pushing away people who try to help and a variety of defenses which end up pushing other people away, like blaming them.
