Think i might have an overactive thyroid, how can this be treated?

Be Sure 1st: The first thing to do is see a doctor to get lab tests to be sure hyperthyroidism is present. If it is present, then start thinking about treatment options. These may include medications to treat symptoms, medications to slow down the thyroid, surgery to remove the thyroid, or a radioactive iodine pill to kill the thyroid.

First: need to have blood tests to determine if you have hyperthyroidism before treatment can be given so see your doctor.

First diagnose: Hi. Before you consider treatment, first a diagnosis must be established. Thyroid function is very easy to test. Please see your doctor for an evaluation. He/she will know what to test. If hyperthyroidism is established, the common treatments (and NOT all causes need treatment) are radioactive iodine or anti-thyroid medications. Surgery is almost never used. Good luck!
