What costs a person more in medical expenses? being fat or smoking?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Obesity wins: Obese workers have even higher health costs than smokers. The study was published in the march journal of occupational and environmental medicine, which is the official publication of the american college of occupational and environmental medicine (acoem). That's an extra $1152/year in medical spending on hospitalizations and prescriptions. That doesn't even count the extra gas to carry them!
