Highly unlikely: If you do not have a history of hypochondriasis or a somatoform disorder, the likelihood is extremely low. I recommend you get another evaluation from a neurologist who can do appropriate testing for neuromuscular disease and if there is none present can refer you on to a rheumatologist. Best wishes.

Perhaps: Anything is possible, especially if you have a history of anxiety. Look at it like this, increasing pain is likely to lead to increasing anxiety, which is likely to leads to increasing pain and so on... Relaxation and meditation are both excellent tools for decreasing both pain and anxiety.
