Is acyclovir recommended for a 94 year patient with vascular dementia?

Unclear reason: Acyclovir is employed for viral infections, and may well control and reverse these, and a comorbidity such as dementia would not necessarily be a contra-indication. However, there could be drug interactions. You need to thoroughly discuss these issues with the doctor who is involved in care.

For viral meningitis: Acyclovir is the recommended treatment for viral meningitis / encephalitis due to herpes simplex (and also herpes zoster). It is not used for treating vascular dementia.
