What kind of mark?: Hyperpigmented marks can be treated with hydroquinone -- be sparing -- but real indented scars won't respond and can be treated when you're ready with fillers, microsurgery or laser work.

Depends on the scar: If the scar is a flat dark patch, time will likely heal it. Staying out of the sun is very important. The sun will make scarring worse. Some topical medications, like the ones you mentioned, can speed up the lightening.
