Bacterial/viral: Antibiotics do not protect anyone from a viral infection- they only work against bacteria. So yes, your child could get a viral infection while on antibiotics, presumably because his immune system may be down from the bacterial infection. See your pediatrician to be sure the Cefixime is working.
