A member asked:

Roughly how long does hiv survive outside of the human body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV: This is complicated. The virus is capable of surviving several hours outside the body, but only inside of living cells. Drying of secretions containing the virus reduces the counts by 99+% quickly. You do not get this virus transmitted in this fashion unless you are sharing needles with somebody or are inadvertently stuck with a needle containing fresh blood.
