I have painful back spasm that is very debilitating and isn't allowing me to move from my bed. would you suggest taking a muscle relaxant? which kind

Yes: A muscle relaxant will likely help. In addition a non steroidal anti inflammatory could help. You would need to see a medical professional to have a muscle relaxant prescribed and to determine the cause of the spasms.

Heat helps alot: As does ultrasound or dryneedling. Neither of these methods are prescription. A good massage can help too. But if you want a name of a medication tizanidine is a very good muscle relaxant that is not a controlled substance. It might make you very tired however.
