What's going on?: If you have an elevated serum ferritin, then you are almost certainly not iron-deficient and should not be receiving injectable iron. It can kill you. I am not joking. Please get with someone who knows how to work up an anemia properly. I'm betting on one of the milder thalassemia variants, but there are literally hundreds of other possibilities.
