If you are worried: When you are concerned, that is when you see the doctor. It si not how high a temp is that is concerning (unless it is 106). It is how the child is acting. And how concerned you are. Pediatricians are happy to see their patients and to help worried parents feel reassured that all is well. 102 is a pretty standard fever and not one that worries us based on fever alone.

Now: It's time for an evaluation now. Shaking and vomiting need to be evaluated. He needs to be examined and possibly to have some blood work and/or imaging. Better safe than sorry.
