Other than heart problems what can be the cause for pains on the left side of breastbone?

Chest pain: There are several possibilities. The most common is irritation or inflammation of the ribs as they join the breast bone and cause pain. Or some trauma to the chest that has not healed. Make sure you are not irritating the area with repetitive movements, weight lifting etc.
