Depends: The guidelines for antibiotic premedication before dental care leave much discretion to the treating surgeon's recommendation. Generally at least 2-5 years after fixture placement and afterwards as needed per surgeon's directive.

Prophylactic AB: Not aware that this is standard of care for patients with prosthetic joint replacements, but you may have some special issues that have made your doctor suggest this. Check with your surgeon and have them explain their rationale. Good luck and hope you are walking without pain.

NO: Discuss with your ortho dr, but generally speaking, a history of a tkr does not require antibiotic prophylaxis for any future dental work.
