Tonsils: Yes, this can happen. If you are having more than 3 episodes of grp b streptococcal infection each year and the tonsil is large you might want to be examined by an ENT doctor to determine if removal is warranted. Good luck.

Tonsils: On each side of mouth at it's posterior end are masses of lymphoid tissue, the palatine tonsils.The tonsils in common with other lymphoid tissues, are part of body;s defense system. Crypts , and one bigger than other on a chronic basis does not mean any thing. Acutely inflammed , one or both tonsils, accompanied by severe sore throat, and swallowing difficulties needs to be addressed by a doctor.
