A member asked:

Does ritalin (methylphenidate) lose it's potency over time - when past the expiry date? what is the timeline of this process?

It depends...: Most medicines will be fine past their expiration date if stored properly. Keep the pills out of your car where they can get exposed to extreme heat or cold. (or stolen) keep pills out of your bathroom where they are exposed to steam from your shower. The best place is probably a kitchen cabinet. If the pills are not starting to change color or getting flaky, they should be ok.

No none knows: Most drugs n pill/capsule form are good/potent long after their expiration date. Typically it is safe to take a med up to 6 months beyond its expiration date.
