Possibly: Autoimmune disease tends to have a hereditary component and RA is no exception. Do you have numbness and pain only with cold exposure? If so, this is called raynaud's and is often linked to autoimmune disorders but not specific to ra. Stop smoking.

Yes. No.: Yes RA has a hereditary component. No your symptoms do not sound anything like ra. They probably represent something entirely different. Should see your primary care doc to have this evaluated.
